Canada International Model United Nations 2027
Under-Secretary-General of Specialized Agencies
Grades 11–12

North America's largest Model United Nations conference: 1,500 attendees from more than ten countries, run by a Secretariat I now serve on.
After four years trying to get students into these rooms, I wanted to help build the room itself. CAIMUN is the conference I kept pointing my own club members toward, and being asked onto its Secretariat meant stepping from advocacy for a handful of students into responsibility for the conditions 1,500 delegates would walk into.
As Under-Secretary-General of Specialized Agencies, I am a substantive member of the Secretariat — the highest organizing body — and responsible for the overall implementation of the conference. I teach and oversee 60+ staff, most of them high school students taking on real responsibility for the first time, and I make sure the topic selection, background guides, and quality of debate hold up across every specialized agency.
The work is mostly clarity: writing instructions clear enough that nobody has to guess, and then being reachable when they guess anyway. It is also the scale that makes it different — 1,500 attendees, ten-plus countries, and a single weekend where most delegates will judge the whole activity by whether their first committee went well.
CAIMUN produces professional closing ceremonies videos each year. The most recent one captures the scale and tone of the conference better than anything I could write here.
